On the cover: Sugarbeet variety trials grown to evaluate reaction to Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (rhizomania) and cercospora leaf spot. Field corn is grown as wind break to increase dew period and increase severity of Cercospora infection after inoculation in early August. These trials were planted in late April and irrigated with solid set sprinklers at Spence field location of the USDA–ARS in the Salinas Valley of California. Santa Lucia Mountains are in background.
